Welcome to GWMS Band Boosters — 2015 – 2016
Welcome to another year of great music with the GWMS band program! Outlined below is a schedule of this year’s events.
OCTOBER 3rd — Middle School Marchers Day at TC Williams High School from 12 to 6. Noon lunch and rehearsal; 3.45 performance at the football game.
DECEMBER 12th — District Band Auditions at West Potomac High School.
DECEMBER 16th — Winter Concert at GW Middle School — 7:30 p.m.
JANUARY 20th — Honors Jazz Band Auditions at Frances Hammond Middle School.
JANUARY 28th – 30th — All-District Jazz Band at Episcopal High School (28th and 29th cancelled due to school closing for snow. All rehearsals and 5:00 performance on January 30th).
FEBRUARY 5th -7th — All-District Band at Hayfield High School.
FEBRUARY 18th — 7th & 8th Grade Symphonic Clinic at TC Williams High School (12 – 4:30).
FEBRUARY 23rd — Pyramid Concert at TCW. Performances by FC Hammond Band, GW 7th & 8th Grade Symphonic Band and TCW Bands – 7pm.
MARCH 3rd — 6th Grade Band Students – Children’s Concert at NOVA Alexandria Campus. Report to GW at 5:45. Performance at Schlesinger Hall at 7:30.
MARCH 12th — State Band Assessment @ Sandburg Middle School. 2 – 6 pm. 7th & 8th Grade Symphonic Band.
MARCH 18th — Chantilly Jazz Festival @ Chantilly HS. Time TBA.
APRIL 5th — Jazz for Justice Concert @ NOVA Alexandria Campus. Jazz Band Students perform with NOVA Jazz Ensemble. 7:30 pm performance.
APRIL 23rd — Solo & Ensemble at Twain MS.
APRIL 29th — Apple Blossom Music Festival and Competition at Shenandoah University in Winchester. 7th&8th Grade Symphonic Band and Jazz Band.
MAY 11th — Spring Concert at GW Middle School — 7:30 p.m.
MAY 20th & 21st — Trip to Busch Gardens and Music in the Park Competition, Williamsburg (overnight).
JUNE 9th — Pops Concert at GW Middle School — 7:30 p.m.
